Week 3 - Devlog 3 - Everything is in place for the story

Hi!

This week we feel like we've done some great progress towards having a comfortable developing environment to start writing the game itself. We have a functioning inventory system, scene transitions, a working dream world dimension and the dialogue system has been improved. We also finished developing the basis of the main menu, pause menu and save system (just missing some pretty UI :P). The collision system has also been improved so the player can't go through walls anymore.

Here is a sneak peek of one of our interactions! (And also a reveal of the draft of our main character!)

Weekly Progress

Francisco

Hello! This week I focused mostly on improving the development environment in order to save us some headaches later on in the development of the game and developing some of the "backend of the game". Some of the stuff I did was making the dialogue system easier to use, reducing the number of connections between objects, making the traits of the player persist between scenes, having a way to track the player's progress in the game, etc. I also wrote some of the dialogue of that will be used in the game and developed the narrative of the game (though its still somewhat of a draft).

Hi! This week I mainly worked on adding new features! We now have a Main Menu and are able to Pause the game anytime. We can now keep track of our adventure and Save it, or if we prefer we can Restart it! I also added a whole new scene to the game, and started the development of the first puzzle of our game. Although not as exciting, I also did some bug and collision fixes.

This week i worked on the inventory and item interaction within the game, as well as on the collisions with the objects and world. I also participated on the story planning like everyone else! Some stuff includes the planning for the cutscenes and the first puzzles. Plus, i worked on the NPCs and interactions with them. Apart from that, some bug fixing as well.
